Colosseum

- Originally known as the Flavian Amphitheatre, the 50,000-seat Colosseum (Colosseo) was inaugurated in AD 80 and used to stage spectacular gladiatorial games in front of baying, bloodthirsty crowds.
- The top tier and hypogeum are open to the public by guided tour only. Visits, which cost €8 on top of the normal Colosseum ticket, require advance booking.

Museo di San Marco
-Opened to the public in 1869, this museum houses the largest collection of sacred art in Florence including a sweeping fresco by Giovanni Antonio Sogliani and a superb collection of works by Mariotto Albertinelli.
-Today the museum is renowned especially for its wall-paintings done by Beato Angelico, in the 400's and his paintings that only reached the museum in the 900's.

-The world famous Pisa Tower was built over a period of about 177 years. Soon after the construction started in 1173 the tower began to sink due to a poorly laid foundation and was left alone for almost a century.

-Santa Maria del Fiore
-The basilica is one of Italy’s largest churches, and until the modern era, the dome was the largest in the world. It remains the largest brick dome ever constructed.
