Expressive Light
Reflections
The last picture was taken with the light directly behind the model. The lamp was angled up to get more light in the model's hair. The light was positioned behind the model perfectly so the lamp could not be seen. I did not use and umbrellas or reflectors in this photo so the light is shining completely on the model. This is my favorite photo because the pose really goes with the theme of my photo series which is a basketball or sports magazine. Putting her arm up showing her muscles show that not only men are strong and can be in sports magazines but women can as well. My model was acting as a basketball player and modeling for Eastbay Magazine. I also like this photo because the light is shining behind the model and the only thing that is shining is her hair. I also like how the arm creates a leading line that brings the viewers eyes from the left of the photo all the way to the top right of the photo.
There is also good contrast in this photo with the dark background and the light shining on the model's hair and half of her arm. I used the same model for ll six photos to chow the change between how the model looks and where the light is shining. This particular photo with the light shining behind shows that even though she is a girl, she can still be as strong if not stronger than any man. The light emphasizes the arm movement which shows that she is strong. During this photo taking session, the photo came out better when the lights in the hallway were turned off. With the lights in the hallway turned off, the light shining on the model was much more dramatic and was shown a lot more in the photo. Moving the light around the model was an easy way to change the meaning of the photo. Using reflectors was also a good way to get some extra light on different parts of the model.
