Wind Turbine
The first day working on the wind turbine my partner and I built the tower to our wind turbine. We used the table saw to rip 4 pieces of wood for the base of the tower and cut smaller pieces of wood to complete the tower and make it air resistant.
The next day we built the cement base so, the structure would stand up on its own. We built the cement base by making a pink foam template by cutting out the pink foam with the ban saw then mixing cement and water to create cement. We then let it dry for the rest of class. We also made the top of the tower, where the motor would sit on.
This was the final product of the tower after we removed the pink foam from the cement base. we removed the pink foam using a hand saw and a sander.
The same day we removed the pink foam from the cement base we also made the propeller. We cut out a piece of wood using the ban saw and then sanded the sides into the shape we wanted it to be as well as making it equal on both sides.
After making the propeller we found the motor that produced the most voltage and used liquid nails to make sure the motor would stay inside the pipe.
This was the finished product before it was stolen by Billy. It was ready to be tested but when the top half of the windmill was taken we decided to do a re-design.
This was the first step after it was stolen. we used the ban saw to cut the wood and made it moveable by using a rivet.
After we finished the new propeller and motor we wired the new wind turbine and sauntered the wires. We also made the tail out of Plexiglas using the ban saw.
This was our finished product. the voltage of the wind turbine was .75 volts. The redesign was not as good as our first design because there was limited time to complete it. And we both wanted to start the new project which was the boat.
